Welcome to Downtown Anchorage
Return to the Main Neighborhoods Menu
Downtown Anchorage is based on the cities original location, called the Anchorage Townsite on municipal maps. Right in the middle of shopping and public community events, residents of downtown can enjoy being in the middle of all the action. Downtown Anchorage hosts tourist traffic, local events such as the Saturday Market, Anchorage Christmas Tree lighting in Town Square, Summer Solstice and 4th of July events, the annual Fur Rondevous carnival and parade, the start of the Iditarod, and more!
The Anchorage Downtown area is located in between Ship Creek to the North and Park Strip to the South; and L Street to the West and Cordova, Gambell, and Ingra Street borders to the East.
Residents here have quick access to all the retail shops of the 5th Avenue Mall and smaller local boutiques that line the downtown streets. Residents here also have close access to the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, which runs all the way South to Kincaid Park. It also is a part of the larger trail system which stretches across all of Anchorage through the neighboring South Addition neighborhood. Being Anchorage's cultural and community center, you'll never be bored living here!
