The University Area, like the name says, is around the University of Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Pacific University in Central Anchorage.
Being in the U-Med District, homes in this area are perfect for college students and employees of Anchorage's big three hospitals, Regional, ANMC, and Providence. It is located between Northern Lights Boulevard to the North and Tudor Road to the South; and Lake Otis Parkway to the West and Baxter Road to the East.
One of Anchorage's most popular dog parks, the University Lake Dog Park is also located in the neighborhood along with popular Goose Lake, a lake that gets warm enough actually swim in during the summer. The city-wide trail system runs through the University Area neighborhood at University Lake and Goose Lake. Residents here can easily access shopping centers in nearby Midtown, Spenard, and Downtown areas by using one of the many main roads that run through the neighborhood.
